Our Changing World

We are entering a period of change. It is not difficult to see how the old institutions are breaking down and a new order, world wide, is fighting to take its place.

Let us see what this means to the world and individual situations.

Astrologically there are 12 periods in a calendar year of which everyone is aware. But the solar system also has its own year. It is the cyclical path of our sun which takes about 25800 years to complete. The Maya believed that such a cycle would come to an end in the year 2012 causing a magnetic shift of the earths magnetic field and the end of the world as we know it.

At least that is what many writers would have us believe. But the end of a solar cycle or year is also the end of the astrological calendar. A solar month is roughly 2150 years. It is also known that we are passing from the age or solar month of Pisces, the last of the 12 signs and beginning the age of Aquarius. The sun is beginning a new cycle which will take another 25800 years to complete.

For the past 2150 years our fortunes have been guided or misguided by the two fishes, Pisces. The problem with the fish is that they cannot agree which way they should be travelling, always pulling in different directions. They are very independent and go their own different way often in conflict. This has been the way of the world during their reign.

These have been the years of individual development for every situation. Governments, religions, countries, institutions, business, communities and any situation you like to think of. This in turn has caused conflict, just as the fishes predicted. The last month of the zodiac has not brought about enduring peace through individual understanding and tolerance but instead has fostered a belief in the force of me, I and myself. So now the world is stressed by greed and conflict in the pursuit of personal belief systems based on arrogance and power.  Obviously the stronger fish will have its own way while the weaker one is pulled this way and that and has to take what it can get of what is left.

So much for working together to the benefit of all. It didn’t happen. Now the world begins again at the beginning of the Solar calendar. The first sign, again symbolic, is Aquarius. The signs run backwards on the basis that we have to go back to the beginning and start again. This first sign has air as its symbol. Air is the sign of harmony, equally available to everyone irrespective of the place they hold in society. It is one of the few products of the universe that the powerful or rich cannot hold to themselves though they have successfully managed to pollute much of the atmosphere making it unsuitable for the regeneration and continuation of life.

We now have in front of us over 2000 years of learning to work together. It is during the age of Aquarius that universal forces will bring about a change in the ambitions of the people on this planet so that they come to realize the importance of harmony, sharing, and interdependence.

This does not mean that the development of individual personalities was a wasted 2000 years. This was an evolutionary time in personality growth and the individual development of countries, government, religions and the like has caused variety and abundance as never before seen. Now the world will go through the phase of using these independent gifts to the benefit of world society as a whole.

As the old ways fight to retain their power there will be much blood letting but it will be of no avail, the new order is already here and working.

It is going to be a long and sometimes painful journey and the significant year in the Maya calendar 2012 is the end of conflict and the beginning of harmony, this will need a new world order. Perhaps it will need a shift in the earths rotation as the Maya forecast, perhaps we are due for another flood in which everything is lost. This would certainly teach the importance and value of sharing.  At least we wont have long to wait to find out.
